Seven miles east of American Fork on SR 92, Timpanogos Cave National Monument covers 250 acres in the American Fork Canyon on the north slope of 11,750-foot Mount Timpanogos. Three large limestone caverns are connected by man-made tunnels. About 1,800 feet in length, the temperature within the caves is a constant 45 F, with nearly 100 percent humidity. Dripstone is still forming, and spectacular helictites, aragonite crystals, stalagmites and stalactites can be seen throughout the lighted caverns.
